Delta Air Lines kicked off its centennial celebrations in style with several exciting announcements at CES 2025, making waves in the airline industry.
On Tuesday evening in Las Vegas, Delta’s CEO, Ed Bastian, took the stage to share the airline’s future plans for enhancing the passenger experience. Key initiatives include new premium services and personalized travel features, all designed to provide greater comfort and convenience for passengers.
A major highlight is the introduction of Delta Concierge, an AI-powered assistant integrated into the Fly Delta app. This assistant aims to offer travelers more control over their journeys, providing real-time help with everything from booking flights to offering tailored advice. Similar to other AI-driven chatbots, passengers can interact with Delta Concierge using voice or text commands. The system is set to anticipate travelers’ needs, offering personalized guidance and taking actions such as reminding passengers about passport renewals or advising on specific travel requirements. It will even provide weather-based packing recommendations.
In addition, Delta has announced a partnership with Uber for deeper service integration. This collaboration ensures that an Uber ride will be ready for passengers as soon as they step out of the airport. Delta’s customers will also earn bonus Sky Miles for Uber rides.
On the tech front, Delta revealed the launch of a revolutionary cloud-based in-flight entertainment system. The new Delta Sync experience, powered by YouTube, will offer passengers fresh, ad-free content. Starting in 2026, select aircraft will feature next-gen 4K HDR QLED seatback displays — a major improvement over the current, often criticized displays. These screens will be supported by a powerful 96-terabyte storage system, enabling smoother and faster streaming.
Additionally, Delta is rolling out Bluetooth capabilities across all cabins, allowing easy wireless pairing of devices for enhanced convenience.
Bastian also updated the crowd on the airline’s partnership with Joby Aviation, a leader in electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Delta Concierge will integrate with Joby’s upcoming air taxi service, providing connections between Delta’s hubs in New York (LGA and JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX), pending regulatory approval.
