Elon Musk’s AI venture, xAI, has launched a standalone iOS application for its chatbot, Grok. Previously exclusive to X users, this marks a significant step in making the AI-powered assistant widely available.

The app is currently in beta and accessible in various countries, including the United States, Australia, and India. It integrates real-time web and X data while offering advanced generative AI features such as text rewriting, summarization of lengthy content, Q&A functionalities, and even the creation of images based on text prompts.

“Grok is an innovative AI assistant built to deliver maximum accuracy, utility, and curiosity,” the app description states. “It provides answers to any question, generates captivating images, and even analyzes uploaded pictures to offer insights about the world around you.”

In addition to the app, xAI is developing a dedicated website, Grok.com, to expand access to the chatbot via browsers. Currently, the site teases users with a “coming soon” message upon login with an xAI account.

Initially available only to paying subscribers of X, Grok introduced a free version in November. This free tier was fully rolled out to all users earlier this month, reflecting the company’s broader ambitions for accessibility.

The chatbot’s image-generation capabilities stand out for their photorealistic quality. Notably, xAI has opted not to impose stringent restrictions on image creation, allowing users to generate visuals that include public figures and potentially copyrighted content.

With Grok now available in beta across multiple countries, xAI is positioning itself as a leader in the next generation of AI-driven tools.
