Microsoft Launches Native Copilot App for macOS with Enhanced Features

Microsoft Copilot app interface on a MacBook screen

Microsoft has officially unveiled its native Copilot app for macOS, offering users seamless access to its AI-powered assistant. Mirroring the Windows version, this new Mac app provides an intuitive way to interact with Copilot, enabling users to upload images and generate AI-created content, including both text and visuals.

The macOS edition also comes equipped with a dedicated dark mode, ensuring a comfortable user experience in low-light environments. Additionally, Microsoft has introduced a convenient shortcut—Command + Space—to quickly summon the AI assistant, similar to the Alt + Space functionality on Windows.

As of today, the Copilot app is available for users in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. Alongside this launch, the iPad version is receiving a major update that introduces a split-screen mode for enhanced multitasking.

Microsoft has also streamlined access across Apple devices by allowing users to sign into Copilot using an Apple ID. This new capability enables iPhone and iPad users to upload text or PDF documents, ask questions about their contents, and even generate concise summaries—functionality that will soon be integrated into the macOS version as well.

The arrival of Copilot for macOS follows Microsoft’s recent move to make Copilot Voice and Think Deeper features available with unlimited access. Previously, these capabilities—powered by OpenAI’s o1 model—had restrictions for free users. With these limitations removed, Copilot users can now engage in extended AI-driven conversations without interruptions.

Microsoft’s continued investment in AI-powered tools highlights its commitment to making intelligent assistants more accessible across platforms. With macOS now included in the lineup, Apple users can take full advantage of Copilot’s expanding set of features.
