Subaru’s Trailseeker EV: A Powerhouse Off-Roader with Modest Range

🚀 Subaru is stepping up its EV game with the 2026 Trailseeker, unveiled at the New York International Auto Show. This beast is Subaru’s second foray into the electric vehicle market, building on the foundation laid by the Solterra. Sharing a platform with Toyota’s BZ4X, the Trailseeker is set to make waves with its enhanced size and cargo space, though it retains some of the Solterra’s divisive design elements like the plastic fender panels.

💰 On the performance front, the Trailseeker doesn’t disappoint. With a symmetrical all-wheel drive system and dual motors churning out a combined 375 HP, it rockets from 0-60 mph in just 4.3 seconds. Off-road enthusiasts will appreciate the standard 8.3 inches of ground clearance and the X-Mode system, tailored for various terrains. However, the 74.7-kWh battery caps the range at 260 miles, and charging maxes out at 150kW. Yet, the inclusion of a battery preconditioning system and NACS port compatibility with Tesla Superchargers sweetens the deal.

Inside, the Trailseeker balances simplicity with tech-savvy features, including a massive 14-inch touchscreen and a center console designed for gadget lovers, complete with multiple charging options. Safety and driver assist tech are top-notch, courtesy of Subaru’s EyeSight system.

While pricing details are under wraps until early 2026, expect the Trailseeker to command a premium over the Solterra. Despite its modest range, Subaru’s latest EV is poised to attract adventurers and tech enthusiasts alike with its robust performance and off-road prowess.
