Future Apple Watches May Feature Cameras for Enhanced AI Capabilities

Apple is reportedly in the process of integrating cameras into its future Apple Watch models to enhance their functionality as AI wearables. According to insights from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in the Power On newsletter, the tech giant is exploring the addition of cameras to both its standard Series watches and Ultra models, targeting a 2027 release. This innovation aims to enable AI features such as Visual Intelligence, offering users instant information about objects or scenes captured by the watch’s camera.

Gurman also highlighted that Apple is developing AirPods equipped with a built-in camera for similar purposes, with both the camera-enhanced AirPods and Apple Watches expected to debut around the same timeframe. The placement of the camera is anticipated to differ across models; the standard Series watches might incorporate the camera within the display, whereas the Ultra model could feature it on the device’s side.
