Amazon’s Prime Video is taking a significant step forward in content accessibility by integrating AI-powered dubbing into a selection of licensed movies and TV series. The streaming giant revealed this initiative on Wednesday, emphasizing that artificial intelligence will work alongside human localization experts to maintain high-quality standards.
This trial phase will initially cover 12 titles that previously did not have dubbed versions. Among them are the Spanish animated classic El Cid: La Leyenda, the heartwarming family film Mi Mamá Lora, and the indie drama Long Lost. The new AI-assisted dubbing will be available in both English and Latin American Spanish.
The use of AI in dubbing is becoming increasingly common in the entertainment industry as companies seek to expand their content’s reach to global audiences. Several major streaming platforms have already started leveraging this technology.
For example, AI dubbing firm Deepdub has collaborated with Paramount+, while YouTube has been actively investing in automatic dubbing solutions, recently rolling out a feature that enables video creators to translate their content into multiple languages.
Prime Video has previously introduced various AI-driven enhancements to improve user experience, such as X-Ray Recaps, which provide season and episode summaries, and Dialogue Boost, designed to enhance speech clarity for viewers who may have difficulty hearing dialogue.
